Elizabeth Webster Safe Home
Children who are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect need a warm, cozy home while professionals assess their family situation. Klingberg "Safe Home" provides such a setting for children between the ages of 3 and 12.
The people we serve:
Available to children removed from their homes for the first time.
Children younger than three and older than twelve may be eligible in order to preserve sibling groups.
How the program works:
Admission requires a decision by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families and a family court judge that the child is not safe at home.
Goal is to minimize frequent disruptions in temporary foster care.
Stays are limited to 45 days.
Professionals make assessments regarding possible family reunification.
Utmost concern for providing a safe and permanent solution for the children.
Children are encouraged to stay close to their own communities and attend their own schools.
Extended family visits are possible.
A spiritual life program is available
