Intensive Family Preservation (IFP)

The people we serve:
Families with children at high risk of being placed in out of home care by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and/or families just reunified following a period of time spent in out of home care.
Also serves foster families and/or pre/post adoptive families.
How the program works:
IFP is designed to quickly intervene and reduce immediate safety factors and the risk of future neglect and abuse of children.
Services are intensive (5 hours per week) and short-term (12 weeks).
Intensive Safety Planning (ISP)
"We are committed to supporting and assisting families whose children have been placed outside of the home."
The people we serve:
Parents and caretakers whose children have been removed by DCF due to abuse and/or neglect.
How the program works:
ISP is a program designed to assist caretakers in mitigating safety factors that led to the removal of their children.
Services are intensive (14 or more hours per week) and short-term (up to 24 days).
Services focus on addressing the safety factors that led to the placement of the children and creating a safe environment.
Common Characteristics of both IFP/ISP:
All referrals are from DCF.
The program utilizes a strength-based, family centered, supportive approach.
Services focus on active engagement and support, improving family functioning, parent education, crisis management, connection to needed services and assistance with obtaining essential concrete needs.
All services are centered in the home and community.
Program offers case management services such as securing food, clothing and basic necessities of daily living; assistance with housing; and help connecting families to community resources.
